The big news from the royal family is the arrival of Prince Harry to the UK. He was invited, and considering the health problems that exist in the royal family, it was time for them to get back together again.
As it turns out, the royal family had quite a week last week, including the fact that King Charles transferred the role of
Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to Prince William, his oldest son. Buckingham Palace broke the news.
May 13 will be the official date of transfer and it will take place at the Army Aviation Centre in Middle Wallop.
“In August 2023, following His Majesty’s Accession, the King was pleased to announce military appointments including that the Prince of Wales would become
Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps. The role was previously held by His Majesty the King, as Prince of Wales, for 31 years” according to the report.
Interestingly, this was a role that used to belong to Prince Harry. Perhaps he is not as unfamiliar with it as you might think.
Prince Harry served for two tours of duty in Afghanistan with the British Army and worked for the Armed Forces for 10 years. When his operational duties came to an end in 2015, he dropped the name.
Although there will always be some speculation over the title and the timing of bestowing it, it is unlikely that we will ever know exactly what happened behind the scenes.
There continues to be a rift in the family, but let’s just hope they are able to resolve many issues in light of the health challenges that the royal family is facing.
